Pinsk and Ternopil intend to sign a partnership agreement at the Forum of Regions

Pinsk and Ternopil intend to sign a partnership and cooperation agreement at the 2nd Forum of Regions of Belarus and Ukraine due in Zhitomir on 3-4 October.
It is expected that the document will be signed by Pinsk Mayor Ivan Rebkovets and Ternopil Mayor Serhiy Nadal. The parties intend to maintain friendly contacts between residents, to engage in a dialogue on the development of the two cities, and to exchange experience in various spheres of life. Priority will be given to cooperation in local self-government, economy, trade, science, education, healthcare, culture, art, sport, tourism, and ecology. Moreover, the partners are keen to implement joint projects. Eventually, Pinsk and Ternopil plan to become twin towns.
The basis for the agreement between the Belarusian and Ukrainian cities is cooperation between Polessky State University and Ternopil National Economic University. The universities established contacts in December 2018. Since then, they have launched student exchange programs and held joint conferences.
Pinsk is increasing cooperation with Ukraine. In January-July 2019, Pinsk enterprises exported goods worth over $4.2 million to Ukraine, which was 25% up year-on-year. Goods produced in Pinsk are sold in Kyiv and also in many regions such as Vinnytsa, Volyn, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zhitomir, Zakarpattia, and Ivano-Frankivsk. Pinsk has established partner relations with 13 cities in six countries, including Ukraine's Kovel, Kakhovka, and Hola Prystan.
