International Volunteer Day is celebrated annually on December 5th. This holiday was established by the UN General Assembly in 1985. The purpose of the day is to draw attention to the role of volunteers in the development of society and encourage new initiatives. On December 5, 2024, in a solemn atmosphere at Polessky State University, Olga Anatolyevna Khmel, Vice-rector for Ideological and Educative Work, and Oksana Nikolaevna Yarovich, head of the Department for Ideological and Educative Work, presented diplomas to students who were especially active in various volunteer events. Volunteering is not just an activity, it is a philosophy that unites people all over the world. By helping others, we help ourselves to become better and create a world where solidarity becomes the norm and help becomes joy.
