On February 11, 2025, Polessky State University hosted a meeting of students of the Faculty of Biotechnology with Mikhail Mikhailovich Zaranko, Vice-rector, Dmitry Ivanovich Yaromchik, head of the Department for Combating Cybercrime at the Pinsk City Executive Committee, Police Lieutenant Colonel, Ekaterina Igorevna Prilovskaya, Deputy Dean for Ideological and Educational Work, and tutors. Dmitry Ivanovich focused the attention of those present on various schemes used by cybercriminals, phishing mailings and hacking accounts on social networks. Special attention was paid to social engineering methods. Criminals, manipulating victims, extort personal data and money from them.
Mikhail Mikhailovich emphasized the importance of critical thinking and vigilance when working on the Internet, urging students not to trust questionable offers and to always check the accuracy of information. He drew attention to the responsibility for subscribing online to groups from the republican list of extremist materials. He also informed the young people about criminal liability for the use and illicit trafficking of drugs.
