On December 12, students and teachers of the lyceum met with Alexander Eduardovich Kallaur, senior investigator, Major of Justice of the Pinsk Interdistrict Department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus. The event was dedicated to one of the most pressing topics of our time – cybersecurity. Alexander Eduardovich, in an accessible and visual form, revealed to the audience the main threats facing users on the Internet. Special attention was paid to the analysis of such common fraudulent schemes as phishing and vishing. Using specific examples from investigative practice, the senior investigator showed how intruders, disguising themselves as representatives of government agencies or well-known companies, extort confidential information: passwords, bank card data, passport information. The students learned what typical phishing emails and SMS messages look like, and what is behind the seemingly harmless links or suggestions. Separately, Alexander Eduardovich focused on the psychological techniques that scammers use to pressure and manipulate, forcing a person to act quickly without hesitation.
