On January 27, Igor Petrovich Sergeenko, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, First Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia, and Pyotr Alexandrovich Parkhomchik, Chairman of the Brest Regional Executive Committee, met with teachers and students of Polessky State University. The meeting was moderated by Valery Ivanovich Dunai, Rector of Polessky State University.
Igor Petrovich spoke about the work of the House of Representatives and noted that 2025 was a time of active creation: decisions were made aimed at ensuring security, economic sovereignty, developing business initiatives, improving the quality of life and social security of Belarusians. The All-Belarusian National Assembly has approved a draft program for the country's socio-economic development for the coming five years. All this was preceded by the work of deputies in the regions, meetings with people, monitoring the socio-political situation in the regions, and involving people in discussing new projects.
Pyotr Alexandrovich Parkhomchik noted that the Brest region is a dynamically developing region with a strong industry. Special attention in the development of the economy is paid to the creation of new import-substituting industries. The Chairman of the Brest Regional Executive Committee also noted that great importance is attached to the development of sports and the maintenance of sports facilities in our region.
The parliamentarians discussed important issues related to the retention of young professionals in the regions. The meeting participants asked questions about support measures that can contribute to the development of research activities in regional universities. Special attention was paid to those aspects that are most effective for securing youth in the field. In addition, the readiness of the Belarusian education system for changes in the training of specialists in accordance with modern labor market requirements was discussed.
