Students of the Biotechnology Faculty visited the Pinsk Interdistrict Department of the State Committee for Forensic Examinations

On the eve of the Constitution Day of the Republic of Belarus, biochemistry students, led by Ekaterina Igorevna Prilovskaya, Deputy Dean for Ideological and Educational Work, visited the Pinsk Interdistrict Department of the State Committee for Forensic Examinations.

The tour for future specialists was conducted by Valery Valerjevich Belevich, Lieutenant Colonel of Justice, Deputy head of the department. For students, this is not just a meeting, but a deep dive into the profession.

During the visit, the students learned: how theoretical knowledge of biochemistry is applied in real forensic examinations; what role high-tech research plays in ensuring law and order; the specifics of the work of a forensic expert and the requirements for professional competencies. In addition, experts spoke in detail about: types of narcotic and psychotropic substances (from classical to modern synthetic compounds ("designer" drugs); the mechanism of action on the body: how different groups of substances affect neurotransmitters and the central nervous system; the dangers of "hidden" compounds: why the chemical uncertainty of new substances makes them deadly.
