A student scientific and practical conference dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War was held at Polessky State University. The event brought together students, teachers, and guests, as well as all those who care about preserving the historical truth and the memory of the heroic deed of the Belarusian people.
Olga Anatolyevna Khmel, Vice-rector for Ideological and Educational Work, opened the conference. Then Irina Eduardovna Yelenskaya, co‑organizer of the event, Associate Professor of the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities, Candidate of Historical Sciences, delivered a welcoming speech.
The main part of the conference featured three research reports based on family archives, local history materials, and historical sources.
Each performance became a reminder that the fate of specific people is behind the loss figures, and living memory is transmitted through the stories of families and the research work of young people.
The achievements of students at international competitions were noted. There was an award ceremony for students who represented Polessky State University at national and international intellectual and creative competitions during the academic year.
