On October 22–23, 2026, a joint off‑site meeting of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus and the Republican Council of University Rectors was held in Gomel. Rector of PolesSU, Valery Ivanovich Dunai, took part in the meeting.
The two‑day program of the event brought together the heads of higher education institutions in the country, representatives of the Ministry of Education and relevant departments to address the strategic tasks of modern higher education. The first day of the meeting was held at the Gomel State University named after Francysk Skaryna. The work was carried out under the supervision of Alexander Gennadievich Bakhanovich, First Deputy Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus.

The digital development of higher education and the systematic introduction of artificial intelligence technologies into the educational process.
Ensuring the information security of the educational environment and protecting the infrastructure of universities.
Development of human resources, effective support for gifted youth and building a system for securing young professionals in the field.
On October 23, the work began with a solemn ceremony of laying flowers at the memorial complex “Alley of Heroes”.
The meeting continued at the Belarusian State University of Transport (BSUT) with the participation of Andrei Ivanovich Ivanets, Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus.
