March 15 - Constitution Day of the Republic of Belarus

The Constitution Day of the Republic of Belarus is celebrated annually on March 15, since the First Constitution of the Sovereign Belarus was adopted on this day in 1994. The Constitution is the basic law of any state. In all aspects, the Belarusian Constitution is the one of a developed and free Europeab society. Based on the principle of the rule of law, a clear division of the branches of power, a variety of political institutions, ideological views, it reflects the experience of constitutional construction of advanced countries of the world, clearly and consistently sets out the basic universal values.

Meeting of the representatives of the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies (BISS) with students and faculty members of Polessky State University

On March 11, representatives of the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies (BISS) have met with students and faculty members of PolesSU. The meeting was attended by Igor Valakhanovich, the Chief adviser of the BISS, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor, and Nikolay Sukhotsky, an analyst of the BISS, Candidate of Sociological Sciences. The Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies (BISS) was established by the President of the Republic of Belarus on February 12, 2019 for the purpose of information and analytical support for the activities of state bodies and officials in strategic areas of foreign and domestic policy. Igor Valakhanovich spoke about the activities of BISS, the projects implemented by the institute and the results achieved, and also he revealed the role of "thought factories" (which include BISS) in facilitating and making management decisions. Nikolai Sukhotsky made a report on the values of the Belarusian society at the present stage and also elaborated on the results of sociological research that allows us to create a portrait of a young Belarusian. The emphasis was placed on the values and behavioral attitudes of young Belarusians, as they largely determine what the economic, political, socio-cultural, demographic future of the country will be and how much the talent and commitment of representatives of this most important social group will be directed to the benefit of society.

Preparation for the final stage of the Republican Olympiad in Biology

From 9th of March, 2021 to 12th of March 2021, the Faculty of Biotechnology accepts students from all over the region in scientific laboratories and classrooms of the educational institution of Polessky State University, carrying out training camps to prepare the team of the Brest region to participate in the final stage of the Republican Olympiad in Biology. Participants of the training camps are the students of grades nine to eleven, representatives of secondary educational institutions of the Brest region, such as schools and gymnasiums, as well as, Lyceum of PolesSU, Pinsk. The children are the winners of the third stage of the Republican Olympiad. Students have the opportunity to work in laboratories and consolidate their knowledge in practice on the subjects of the Olympiad cycle: Plant Physiology, Molecular Biology, Botany, Human and Animal Physiology, Genetics, Anatomy. The training is conducted by the members of the Faculty of Biotechnology.

Tatiana Lebed – nominee in "Person of the Year of Brest region" contest in the field of healthcare

There is a great tradition in Belarus to annually award the high and honorable title of "Person of the Year of Brest Region" to the most honored people. Tatiana Lebed, an experienced, qualified specialist and talented manager, who is the head of BL "Longitudinal Research" of Polessky State University, was nominated for the title in the field of healthcare.

She graduated with honors from Pinsk Secondary School No. 16. and then entered the Belarusian State University at the Faculty of Chemistry. She graduated with certificate of honor as a chemical analyst, chemist-pharmacist in 2005.

To date, T. L. Lebed is the responsible executor of two research projects funded by the Brest Regional Executive Committee, which are:

“Development and implementation of methodology for early diagnosis and prevention of nephrological complications in patients with type II Diabetes, based on molecular genetic analysis.”

“Development and implementation of method for correcting disorders of bone metabolism in athletes of junior and youth age on the basis of optimizing the results of a comprehensive interdisciplinary examination".

PolesSU participation in the organisation of the international innovation and application centre "Aquatic Artery"

On 25 February 2021, the University senate decided to participate in the organisation of an international innovation and application centre "Aquatic Artery" on the basis of a Consortium of scientific and practical organisations. The Centre will comprise organisations from Europe and Asia, whose area of activity is the implementation of technologies for rational use of natural resources and green economy in the management of water resources.

Chinese New Year at Belarusian-Chinese Centre of Intercultural Communication

Chinese New Year, literally translated as Spring Festival (春节, Chūnjié), is the greatest and the longest holiday not only in China but also in other East Asian countries. Unlike its Western counterpart, there is no fixed date for the Chinese New Year, each year it's determined by the lunar calendar.

On February 15, 2021 the Belarusian-Chinese Centre of Intercultural Communication  at Polessky State University hosted an event dedicated to the Chinese New Year.
