Business Seminar of the Partners of the Faculty of Engineering

On March 25, 2021, the "Business Seminar of Partners of the Faculty of Engineering" was held. The event, organized for senior students, was conducted by Victoria Volkova, Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs.

As the Faculty of Engineering trains specialists in the field of engineering, the business seminar was aimed primarily at sharing experience and knowledge in this area. Current students were able to learn more about the nuances of their future activities as engineers in IT technologies, landscape design and industrial fish farming.

Olga Zolotareva, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, delivered a welcoming speech. She congratulated everyone on the Day of the Faculty of Engineering and described the outlines of the project to create a mechanism for direct responsibility of the university to employers, as well as invited the partners of the Faculty of Engineering to participate in this project. Its main essence is that a system of obligations of a higher education institution (HEI) in relation to a student is introduced, which will be implemented when applying for a job for this student when he becomes a young specialist. In return, the HEI has the right to expect that employers will be more interested in taking into account the assessments issued by the teaching staff and will not allow the complete zeroing of these assets accumulated by young specialists while studying in universities.

Olga Alexandrovna also said that Polessky State University participates in the Erasmus+, DUALBEL program "Promoting the Development of Dual Education in Belarusian Higher Education", when students have the opportunity to simultaneously study, gain practical work experience and acquire a profession.

The next speech was delivered by Vladimir Shtepa, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering. He said that this event is planned to be held periodically: once a quarter. "We plan to invite individual enterprises and organizations. First of all, we want them to get acquainted with our curriculum, to be able to voice their suggestions, to help in some way with the material and technical base, so that it can be used in laboratory classes. We are waiting for initiatives not only from organizations, but also from students," added Vladimir Shtepa.

The program of the business seminar was divided into 3 sections:

  • Information Technologies
  • Gardening and Landscape Design
  • Industrial Fish Farming

Each section was presented by the most successful Belarusian companies in the following fields. During the business seminar, representatives of companies/potential employers gave advice and expressed qualification requirements for future young professionals.

We express our gratitude to all participants of the business seminar!
