Polessky State University held a dialogue platform Belarus of the Future on 8 February. The amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus were discussed at the event.
Speakers were member of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Omelyanyuk, Deputy Chairman of the Pinsk City Executive Committee Gennady Polikovsky, Pinsk Interdistrict Deputy Prosecutor Aleksandr Pleskatsevich. The dialogue was attended by Polessky State University Rector Valery Dunai, administration and students of the Faculty of Economics and Finance and employees of Polessky State University.
Aleksandr Omelyanyuk spoke in detail about the main changes in the draft Constitution of the Republic of Belarus, emphasizing the importance of every citizen’s opinion in the adoption of the amendments to the Basic Law. Pinsk Interdistrict Deputy Prosecutor spoke about the investigation of the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War and during the postwar period, highlighting amendments and additions to the Constitution regarding the preservation of historical memory and patriotic education of the younger generation.
Gennady Polikovsky noted the importance of social orientation and equality pursued in Belarus, which must be preserved in the Basic Law of the country.
The republican referendum on amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus is scheduled for 27 February, 2022. The decision adopted by the republican referendum has an obligatory legal force according to the requirements established by the election legislation. A decision of this kind enters into force in 10 days after its official publication. The decision adopted by the referendum shall be an integral part of the Constitution.
