Representatives of Polessky State University are the participants of the Youth Forum “Belarus Remembers”

On September 14, a meeting of the Youth Forum “Belarus Remembers” was held in the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus. Young historians gathered within the walls of the Government House: students, graduate students, undergraduates of higher education institutions from all regions of Belarus. Polessky State University was represented by Associate Professor of the Department of Intercultural Communications of Polessky State University, Ph.D. I.E. Yelenskaya, the 2nd year student of the Faculty of Economics and Finance Anna Dzhumalieva and the 3rd year student of the Faculty of Engineering Olga Ostroukhova. It is symbolic that in 1939, within the walls of the building of the Belarusian parliament, the Declaration of the Belarusian People's Assembly on the entry of Western Belarus into the BSSR was signed. And today, in the same place, the participants of the youth forum, considering the historical events of the 1920-1930s, spoke about modern threats to our statehood and our security. The forum was organized by the deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly Sergei Mikhailovich Klishevich. Valentina Konstantinovna Begeba, deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus from the Pinsk district, deputy chairman of the Standing Commission on Ecology, Nature Management and the Chernobyl Disaster, took an active part in the work of the youth forum. At the end of the event, the forum participants adopted a resolution in which they condemned the colonialist discriminatory policy of the Polish state against the Belarusian population of the western regions of Belarus in 1921-1939, recalled the struggle of our ancestors against Polonization and enslavement and the historical significance of the reunification of Belarusian lands in 1939. In addition, the resolution condemns the policy of the modern Polish state, which ignores historical facts, glorifies anti-Soviet gangs, destroys war memorials and still considers part of the Belarusian territories its sphere of influence.
