Visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan of the head of the Department of Physical Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine N.G. Kruchinsky

On the invitation of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Policy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, from February 2 to 12, 2023, N. Kruchinsky, the Head of the Department of Physical Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine, visited Baku. The program of the visit included lectures and master classes: lectures on the nutritional characteristics of athletes in modern conditions (the risk of using dietary supplements with substances banned in sports in their composition, insufficient evidence base for the effectiveness of dietary supplements), based on the principles of expediency and safety; a master class on the use of computer technology for express testing of the functional state of athletes, based on a combination of bioimpedancemetry methods, heart rate variability and building 3D models of the state of organs and systems; a master class on the application of magnetic therapy methods in the complex of SM activities and outside the training means of preparation. On February 2, a meeting was held with the Minister of Sports and Youth Policy of the Republic of Azerbaijan Farid Gaibov and Deputy Minister Mariana Vasilyeva. At the meeting, issues of potential cooperation in the field of education and science were discussed in accordance with the submitted official proposals from Polessky State University. During the visit, meetings were organized with specialists from the National Scientific and Practical Institute of Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation, the Academy of Physical Culture and Sports of Azerbaijan, the Baku City Sports Medicine Dispensary, and the rowing training base (Mingichavir). On February 6, a scientific and practical seminar was held for SM doctors and trainers. The program of the seminar included: an overview lecture on the nutritional characteristics of athletes in modern conditions (the risk of using dietary supplements with substances prohibited in sports in their composition, insufficient evidence base for the effectiveness of dietary supplements), based on the principles of expediency and safety; a master class on the use of computer technology for express testing of the functional state of athletes, based on a combination of bioimpedancemetry, heart rate variability and building 3D models of the state of organs and systems (computer system MultiscanPro); a master class on the application of magnetic therapy methods in the complex of SM activities and outside the training means of preparation. In addition, 3 lectures were read on nutrition and biomedical support for the training of athletes for specialists from rowing, swimming and athletics federations. A survey of 24 athletes of the national teams of Azerbaijan in rowing, swimming and athletics was conducted with a discussion of the results and recommendations for preparation.
