On June 21, V. I. Dunai, rector of Polessky State University, as part of a delegation of rectors of higher educational institutions of the Republic of Belarus, visited the memorial complex "Brest Hero Fortress", where the participants of the event laid flowers at the eternal flame, honoring the memory of the dead with a minute of silence. On June 22, on the Day of National Remembrance of the victims of the Great Patriotic War and the genocide of the Belarusian people, Valery Ivanovich took part in commemorative events that took place in Brest. The meeting-requiem in the memorial complex "Brest Hero-Fortress" symbolically began at 3:30 in the morning: half an hour before the roar of enemy shells broke the pre-dawn silence on June 22, 1941.
