The President of the Republic of Belarus signed a Decree that adjusts the Rules for admission of persons for higher and secondary specialized education. The changes are aimed at improving the quality and competitiveness of domestic education, taking into account the interests of the state, employers and applicants. PolesSU, as a regional university, welcomes these changes and is ready for their implementation. Among the innovations I would like to note the following: - the possibility of admission without entrance examinations for those applicants who have a gold or silver medal at the end of school, or a diploma of secondary specialized education or vocational education with honors from regional universities. This stimulates the educational achievements of school and college students and allows them to choose any specialty at our university; - improving the status of applicants-graduates of the National Children's Technopark and expanding the list of specialties for admission without entrance tests. This supports the development of the innovative potential of youth and contributes to the formation of personnel for science and high-tech industries;
- expanding opportunities for admission to specialized universities for graduates of specialized military-patriotic classes and military-patriotic clubs, which contributes to the education of citizenship and patriotism among young people; - introduction of a lower threshold of an average certificate score of at least 7.0 for applicants entering the target field, which will improve the quality of students in universities, strengthen the motivation of applicants, and also guarantee the quality of training of specialists for specific organizations and regions;
- the possibility of admission of applicants on the basis of targeted training through a competition among individual customer organizations, if the competition for the specialty as a whole did not take place. This allows you to optimize the distribution of budget places and take into account the needs of the labor market. The new edition of the Admission Rules also preserves the following benefits: - for the winners of regional university Olympiads and increases the list of specialties for which one can enter regional universities based on the results of the Olympiads;
- for graduates of lyceums at universities, which is important for Poles State University, which operates a multidisciplinary lyceum; - for gifted, talented and motivated applicants. In general, it can be stated that the innovations of the 2024 admissions campaign will increase the status and prestige of regional universities, stimulate the development of education and science in the regions, help meet the personnel needs of organizations and enterprises in various fields of activity, and provide support for talented and motivated applicants.
